S stands for Small, M stands for Medium (standard size) and L stands for Large.
The new XS size corresponds to a chicken loop loop without donkey dick, reduced to the minimum length (about 2 cm shorter than the S size).
The Afnor standard (NF S 52-503) requires that you replace the quick releaser every 2 year, or more often, if you kite a lot.
If the AKA quick releaser and chicken loop don't show any kind of wear, you might just replace the chicken loop rope and the elastic Inside.

The rope is made of real European Dyneema and sustains 800 kg. It is tripled in the middle, where you connect the harness buckle.
